Job Title: Volunteer

Job Summary: As a Volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families experiencing homelessness. We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team and contribute their time and skills to support our programs and services. As a volunteer, you will work closely with our staff to provide assistance and support in various areas of our organization. Whether you have a few hours to spare or are looking for a long-term commitment, your contribution as a volunteer will play a vital role in helping us fulfill our mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of our organization, providing support in areas such as program activities, event planning, administrative tasks, and facility maintenance.
  • Engage with program participants, offering a friendly and supportive presence, listening to their stories, and providing companionship.
  • Help with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup in our kitchen or food pantry.
  • Participate in organizing and distributing donated clothing, toiletries, and other essential items to individuals and families in need.
  • Support our job readiness training initiatives by providing resume writing assistance, mock interviews, or job search guidance.
  • Assist with educational workshops, recreational activities, and other programs aimed at enhancing the well-being and skills of our program participants.
  • Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals feel respected, valued, and supported.
  • Collaborate with staff and fellow volunteers to ensure a smooth and effective operation of our programs and services.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality and respecting the privacy of program participants.
  • Attend volunteer orientation sessions and any necessary training to familiarize yourself with our organization, mission, and values.
  • Follow safety guidelines and protocols to ensure the well-being of program participants, staff, and volunteers.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old (some positions may have specific age requirements).
  • Strong commitment to the mission and values of Community Creates Community.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude toward individuals experiencing homelessness or facing challenging circumstances.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to maintain a professional and respectful demeanor.
  • Flexibility in adapting to the needs and requirements of the organization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from staff members.
  • Willingness to learn and be open to new experiences and challenges.
  • Dependability and commitment to fulfilling volunteer responsibilities as scheduled.
  • Prior volunteer experience or experience working in a social service setting is a plus but not required.
